So the season has come to a close and we had some new folks take up the ole steel shoe. We also had a lot of new tracks to go to, some we will hopefully see next season, some unfortunately we will probably not.
The question is what would it take to get EVERYBODY to come to every event? Less events, more events, more TT's, more ovals, Mike Ladeen in a speedo?
I know the economy has hit everybody in some way or another and that has some effect but regardless of what you elected officials tell you this will continue and we should gear our sport accordingly.
Throw some ideas out there lets see what we can do to make things more worth while for our 2010 promoters.
OK, so, I post this with much hesitation . . . because, being a new-comer to the sport (and this community) I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to barge in and 'change' the sport you've all work so hard on, and enjoyed, for so long.
So, with that said, I'm simply posting a couple links to a discussion over at the Flattrack.com forum - which, perhaps some (many, all) of you have seen. Anyway, the discussion was basically "what to do at a track with smaller numbers of regular competitors". Not exactly what Rick asked in this thread . . . but, perhaps, close.
Anyway, their decision was to run a modified 'speedway style' format.
Check out their planning discussion here (they called it their "SpeedSprint" format):

Nothing more than offering a 'different idea' as 'food for thought'.
