Last winter we had our first sliding school. The students (under 10) really got a bang out of it. We had a fellow from Kansas who had never seen ice before and was leery of even walking on it, never mind a crazy thing like riding on it. Turns out he was our star pupil. We are going to do it again the second Sunday in January. Not only will you learn the fundamentals of flat track but ice allows a perfect surface for learning how to slide. To prove to you how much you will learn-we will clock each student around the track at the beginning of the day and at the end. The difference will amaze you.
Prior to this announcement we now have 4 enrolled students so it looks like this school will be bigger than last year. Be warned, we have a limit on the number of students we can handle. Because screws can be so damaging we only put two bikes on the track at any one time. In our summer schools we run up to 7 riders at a time so we can run everyone through the course in less time. Not so in winter so we have to cut it off at 14 students or we’d running around in the dark. Date: January 15, 2012 Cost: Book before 12/1/11 for only $49.00. After 12/1/11 the cost will be $59.00 * Minimum 10 riders needed to have the school Register Here What to bring:
[ ] Safe, warm, protective shell boots
[ ] Knee guards
[ ] Hip guards
[ ] Elbow guards
[ ] Torso protector
[ ] Warm gear so you can spend a day on the ice
[ ] Your bike if you want to learn on it. Limit 200cc 4 stroke. Forget 2 strokes (they go nuts out of a corner-too hard to learn on)
The track
The track will be small but longer than the summer track-something like a 1/8 mile. No more than 2 riders will be on the track at any one time and they will be 180 degrees apart on the track.
Only the student may attend the class-no friends (Dad or Mom is okay)
