Learn How to Slide!
You are looking at a demonstrator device for our two winter schools on the subject of "learning how to slide." The school will teach you how to exploit the second most important 40 feet on a short track. Sliding will be the only subject taught in winter schools. The track will be small as will be the motorcycles. We will provide 100cc to 125cc 4 stroke bikes setup for flat track ice racing. No more than 2 riders will be on the track at any one time and they will be 180 degrees apart on the track. School will be on Sunday and begin at 12:30 and end when we get tired/run out of gas/or when it gets too dark.
School dates
- January 15, 2012
- School fee is $49.00 if booked by December 1, 2011 or $59.00 after.

School subjects
- Benefits of sliding
- How to start a slide
- Brakeless corner entry
- In-corner re-directioning under power
- Corner exiting with an earlier drive point
- Sliding for show and fun
Class restrictions
- The school minimum is 10 people to defray track prep costs
- Only the student may attend the class-no friends (Dad or Mom is okay)
- The track location will remain secret until the week of the school (screws limit quality ice).
- This school will be limited to very good riders and above who have a lot of dirt experience and an interest in racing.
- No kids under 15
- Students of our past schools will have priority over anyone else for participation.
If you bring your own bike it must be under 500cc, prefer a 4 stroke, it must have approved ice studs and hopefully set up for flat tracking. We'd sure like to have a front ice fender on it too but it's not absolutely mandatory
Rider safety - All students must wear:
- Safe, hard shell boots that are warm
- Knee guards
- Hip guards
- Elbow guards
- Torso protector
- Warm gear so you can spend a day on the ice
- Bring a shop broom (to sweep away ice chips)
Directions:
Hwy 12 west of Delano. About 3 miles west of Delano look for a hard-to-see street sign that says Brighton Ave (the sign is on the right). Take Brighton south about 1 ½ miles. Turn right at first stop sign intersection onto 72nd Street SE. Drive about 1 1/2 miles. Fountain Lake will appear on your left. Look for a small landing as road and lake part from each other. Do this the easy way and Map Quest “Fountain Lake, Mon...trose MN” and it will poop right up. If you have a Garmin, plug in “1113 72nd St SE, Montrose, MN 55328” that will get you on the west headed rod to the lake.
